5 Steps to Clean Your Bong

Disassemble and Empty Your Bong

Before you proceed, wear gloves to protect your hands from the smell, resin, and alcohol. Now, remove the bowl, and the down stem, and put it on the side. Pour the water out of the bong and remove the ash that has been loosened along with the resin.

If you have purchased waterfall branded glass bongs, some of the range comes with silicon caps and plugs to make the cleaning process and simple and non-messy as possible.

Cover Contaminated Areas

Get more than half of a cup or a full cup of coarse sea salt and cover the bottom of the bong's chamber with it. Then add the same amount of or a little more isopropyl alcohol to the chamber and set it aside. Place the down stem and the bowl in an alcohol-filled zipper storage bag and carefully seal it.

Shake Pieces in Solution

One of our recommended cleaning solutions is Randy’s Black Label

To seal off the openings to your chamber, if you’re not using a waterfall glass  bong with caps and plugs, you will need to get creative and use paper towels instead. Make sure the storage bag is properly sealed. Shake the plugged chamber vigorously until you start to see the resin build-up come apart from the chamber, down stem, and bowl, roughly for 1 minute. Let soak for 4-6 more minutes or until clean. Empty the Solution from the bag and chamber after the resin has been taken out.

Clean Hard to Reach Areas

If you are cleaning your bong after a long time, there may be stubborn residue sticks in places where it is hard to reach. Make use of cotton swabs to scrub those areas or go for pipe cleaner. They are good at cleaning tougher areas.

Thoroughly Rinse

After following the above steps, run warm tap water and soap in your sink thoroughly, rinse the chamber, bowl, and down stem. After running water, ensure that the alcohol has been removed entirely. Otherwise, smoking residual fumes can be highly toxic for health.
